J - Jingle Jangle

My J-manicure of the ABC Challenge is just a simple glitter skittle with all Color Club polishes.

 I used Color Club Jingle Jangle, Beyond the Mistletoe and Gift of Sparkle

These are all such pretty polishes!! Sadly the two first are soooo sheer, they needed four to five generous coats. I should have layered them, but when I noticed it, it was already too late.

Spun Sugar Skittle

 'tis the season...
I mean not THE season yet, but the time to stop longing for the last summer and start longing for the Holidays and all the fun preceeding them. But who cares! I've got a bunch of nail photos from the summer and I'm going to show you the best picks, like it or not!

This mani is the result of another I-can't-decide-which-polish-to-try-first -moments..
For the base I used four Manhattan polishes from the Lotus Effect line:
from pinky to pointer (left hand)

**Targeted message to you guys who make Manhattan polishes: Get your act together and make up some names to your polishes!! Arg!!!**

 Other than the persistent name issue, I can't complain about the polishes. All of these were two effortless coats, complete opacity, butter-like texture. What more could a girl want - from nail polish that cost 4 euros, that is...

To decorate, I added a bit of "spun sugar" (my first) with Essence Fruity yellow polish (no name on the bottle) and Manhattan 51K. I'm quite happy with the result, even if it took a bit more effort than I thought. The time window when the polish is stringy enough to "be spun" and not yet too hard and clumpy was quite narrow, at least with these polishes.

 And last but NOT AT ALL least:
A huge thank you for all my followers who have stayed with me through all the summer with virtually no posts!!! Just knowing you are there has been a great comfort in the changes I've been through recently. You're definitely up for a treat! At least a whole summers worth of sunny nail pics, plus maybe something even more fun... :)

Pastel Crackle Skittle

Lately I spotted some Essence Blossoms etc. limited edition polishes on clearance.  I bought some to a nail friend and to avoid envy, bought some for myself, too. Logical, isn't it?

I couldn't decide which one of them to wear first, so I chose them all!

The blossoms polishes I used are:
(left hand from pinky to pointer)
Forget-me-not (blue)
My Yellow Fellow
I Like (green) (what's that name supposed to mean, by the way?)
Bloom-a-loom (lilac)
For the thumb I added Sally Hansen Complete Salon I Pink I Can, because the pink was missing from the collection.

All of them were three coats. I almost could have gotten away with two, but.. you know...

 The crackles I used were mostly from Depend:
(left hand from pinky to pointer)
5009 (pink)
5006 (lilac)
5008 (baby pink)
5011 (green)
And for the thumb, Isa Dora Blue Burner.

 This was a fun and colourful, but at the same time soft and girly mani. I loved it while it lasted :)

 You might have noticed I'm not posting as often as last winter. This summer I'm consantly on the move between two/three towns, so there are enough things to keep me distracted from my routines...  But I'm still posting, painting my nails and loving it!! That's enough for me, hope that's good for you, too!

Interlocking Glitter Skittle

Again a manicure for getting to play with my swatchsicles and getting some polishes out from my untrieds.

The base is two/three coats of Catrice I Wear My Sunglasses at Night. I was a little disappointed with the glitter effect on the nail - or the lack of it. It is much more visible in these pics than IRL, even if you place your nails right under your nose.

I went on to paint interlocking diagonals with (from pinky to thumb, left hand):
Orly Vip
Essence Circus Circus Cotton Candy glitter
Nicole by OPI My Sleigh's in the Shop
Milani Purple Gleam and
China Glaze Skyscraper.

And this is the right thumb:
Milani Silver Dazzle

As always, the greatest fun was organizing my swatchsicles, choosing the colours and just fooling around.

There you can see the ones I chose and also the ones that didn't make it.
The two Milanis were the worst topcoat eaters, propably because they are so dense that the glitter pieces sit on the top of each other. Well, there's nothing that three coats (!) of Seche Vite couldn't handle..

 Generally I loved the most the Nicole by OPI and Milani Silver Dazzle. I'd say it's because they have the clearest contrast with the base. Which brings to me an idea of interlocking mani with contrasting colours.. hmm...

Funny how these glitter polishes remind me of those glitter glues we used to buy before christmas to decorate christmas cards, and which were totally equally useless every time..

I had marvelled at these interlocking manis before in some blogs, and making my own was really quite easy. I used scotch tape to line out a diagonal section for the glitter, and then a dotting tool to make the "interlocking" lines of dots.

By the way... I love saying glitter skittle.. :) Try it!

Day 9: Under the Rainbow

The day nine of the challenge asked for rainbow nails. I had thought about just stamping rainbows on my nails from BM201 (I was on a lazy mood..). But going through my stash and spotting some untried Essence polishes inspired me and here we are: rainbow skittle!

I wanted to do it with all cremes, but had to cheat on my left thumb. I simply don't own a suitable yellow-green creme. This means shopping..

I almost included a pink polish. Even after I checked the actual colours of the rainbow from Wikipedia, I found it hard to resist the pink - my favourite colour on my nails. But if I've learned something in the Uni, it's: "You Don't Tamper With Scientific Facts", so I left the pink out. (How is it possible, by the way, that it could not be included, if rainbow is the continuous spectrum of all visible colours?  Is pink somehow between red and violet, the extreme ends of the spectrum and the top and bottom of a rainbow, and thus is not seen?)

The polishes I used (from left to right) are:
Revlon Revlon red, Essence Colour&go Wake Up!, China Glaze Papaya Punch, China Glaze Electric Pineapple, China Glaze Cha-cha-cha, Essence Colour&go Trust in Fashion, Essence Nail art twins Bella, Essence Nail art twins Bonnie, China Glaze First Mate AND Essence Nail art twins Thelma.

Phew! That was a lot of polishes!
All are two coats except Electric Pineapple, First Mate and Thelma, which needed the third one.

From all of these, the colour I'd definitely wear as a whole mani asap is the bright orange-red Wake Up! I'm trying to figure out the way to use it in one of the forecoming challenges...
