GOT Polish: Pink Barbed

Another challenge for me this year is participating in the Golden Oldies Thursday a.k.a. GOT polish challenge. The idea is to show some love to our golden oldies, polishes that we've had for a long time. You can read more at the Crumpet. My participation also has something to do with me moving temporarily out of the country and having to choose only a fraction of my collection to carry with me. But you will hear more of that soon...

The first theme in this challenge was 'Pink'. Lucky me! This polish (and her sisters – I had to buy the whole line) are ones I've had for a looooonnngg time. Every time I use them, I love them, but then I somehow forget about them. Shame on me, because they_are_awesome!

The pink here is Manhattan 51k. It glides on like butter, with absolutely no streaking, running, bubbling or anything like that.

Why do we start taking these perfect and faithful polishes -and sometimes people- for granted, forgetting to be thankful for their existence?  That stops right here! Thank you, all you lovely readers, lovely polishes and all my dearest ones, just for being there!

Ok, back to the business!  For this manicure I stamped on barbed wire from BM323 and used a kitchen sponge with Mavala white to the tips. Voilà! Now let's see what the others have been up to..

Here's a pic of a mani I wore recently to keep your interest up :) I used a Manhattan polish, Mavala white polish sponged on the tips and stamped on the barbed wire from a BM plate.
There is more to come - in the nail art front as well as the interaction front...

B – Be Brave!

This manicure – the day 2 of the ABC challenge – was the first time I tried the DIY glue peel off base coat for glitter manicures. I brushed on one coat of glue (Scotch Hobby- och skollim), let it dry and then proceeded to polish.

I'm wearing one coat of Manhattan lotus effect 61V, with four coats (!) of Orly Be Brave! Stamping was made with Konad black and BM plate 322.

 This mani really, I mean REALLY sparkled IRL. Here's an unfocused pic to show you all the holo goodness. Sorry for any nausea this might cause..

 Removing the glue basecoat by peeling was easy with this mani, but my later experiments were al disastrous. As you might know, I'm sporting gel nails, and it's extremely difficult to peel only the glue, not the gel. Ouch. But I'm going to make it work one day, and reveal you the trick when I find it.

There might be people, who would call this manicure names, and those names would not be "classy", "stylish", "adult" or "work appropriate". 

I'd say to those people: "Be Brave!!". Obviously I don't want anyone to go running around insulting other people on purpose, wearing the wrong nail polish in the wrong funeral, or ignoring other people's values. But in most cases nails polish is just nail polish. Believe me, I've gotten my share of odd looks, like when I wore neon pink nails with black zebra print and glitter to an important work meeting. But neither the polish I wore nor the looks made me anything I wasn't before. So be brave, girls and boys, and wear whatever you want!

Spun Sugar Skittle

 'tis the season...
I mean not THE season yet, but the time to stop longing for the last summer and start longing for the Holidays and all the fun preceeding them. But who cares! I've got a bunch of nail photos from the summer and I'm going to show you the best picks, like it or not!

This mani is the result of another I-can't-decide-which-polish-to-try-first -moments..
For the base I used four Manhattan polishes from the Lotus Effect line:

**Targeted message to you guys who make Manhattan polishes: Get your act together and make up some names to your polishes!! Arg!!!**

 Other than the persistent name issue, I can't complain about the polishes. All of these were two effortless coats, complete opacity, butter-like texture. What more could a girl want - from nail polish that cost 4 euros, that is...

To decorate, I added a bit of "spun sugar" (my first) with Essence Fruity yellow polish (no name on the bottle) and Manhattan 51K. I'm quite happy with the result, even if it took a bit more effort than I thought. The time window when the polish is stringy enough to "be spun" and not yet too hard and clumpy was quite narrow, at least with these polishes.

 And last but NOT AT ALL least:
A huge thank you for all my followers who have stayed with me through all the summer with virtually no posts!!! Just knowing you are there has been a great comfort in the changes I've been through recently. You're definitely up for a treat! At least a whole summers worth of sunny nail pics, plus maybe something even more fun... :)
