Coral Nails (Not Including Coral Polish)

The other night I asked the Hubby THE QUESTION!

(No, it's not 'Will you marry me'  It's: 'How should I paint my nails')

 And he answered: 'Paint corals!'
I have absolutely no idea, where that came from. We have never seen corals. We are not planning a diving holiday. We haven't even watched a documentary with corals on it.
But corals he said, and corals it was.

I painted a base with two coats of Zoya Wednesday, and sponged on a slight gradient using Wednesday, Sinful Colors Cinderella and a random white polish.

The stamping was made with Mundo de Unhas 13 which is a Reddish orange stamping polish, and DRK-A plate.

To top it all, I chose from my untrieds the Liquid Sky Lacquer Great White. You see one coat over Wednesday in the index finger - and some dabs on the other nails. Just watch the gorgeous shimmer!! The Great White fits in perfectly to the theme! ... This coral reef isn't safe anymore.... Watch out you little fish.... Duunn dun... dunnn dun...

GOT Polish: Purple

I did my golden oldies purple manicure to honor the greatest purple polish on the surface of earth: Zoya Aurora! 

It's special for me, because bought this on a trip to Chicago - where I landed a day late being at first stranded to the Netherlands, and had a room booked in a 12-bed dorm at a hostel.... Oh, those sleepless nights... But it paid off when I could haul both Storm and Aurora released in the same collection!

You may disagree, but I just love the holo glitter on this, the application, the opacity.... all of it!

The base in this manicure is two coats of Astor Pop Color 141.
Over it I used China Glaze Crackle Luminous Lavender - plus some tape and Zoya Aurora - the awesomest purple polish there is..

Z – Zoya Ziv

To end the year of polishing and the ABC challenge, I've got the most beautiful golden polish for you: Zoya Ziv.

This manicure also sports OPI Red Shatter. I was soooo over and done with crackles, until I tried out this one (my first OPI shatter). Now I'm in love again! It looks so fab over white on my swatchsicles, too! I want to try it on every colour. How about a bright blue next?

On the thumb and the ring finger I sponged Lacquistry Devil's Dandruff, some red glitter from Essence Applause Applause (from the Circus Circus collection) and some Wet'n'Wild Fergie collection No Place Like Home. I also added a tear shaped rhinestone (probably from eBay).

The manicure turned out quite Christmass-y - appropriate for the season, although a bit late :)

This is it, then, my dearest readers! The ABC challenge finally over, I've got new awesome nail challenges and projects in store for the next year. Happy New Year to all of You!!

Starring: Zoya Faye

This is a definite in-between mani. You know those days, when you want to do your nails but you have something special coming up in a few days where you have your manicure planned? The days when you know the manicure you create will live for maximum 24 hours? When you're afraid you'll like the mani too much and it'll ruin your outfit planned ahead if you don't remove it? You don't?!? Well, Ive got some to share...

 

This mani is based on four coats of Zoya Faye. Yeah, four coats... Imagine me just wanting to throw together something quick, and having to paint four coats to achieve any cover-up at all. Luckily the awesome golden shimmer was more than worth it all!

To decorate, I added some sponging with faye mixed with an age old Rimmel dark plum polish. Finally I slapped on some stickers (maybe originally a present?). And that was it, for the next 24 hours.

Cleanup after the sponging was a breeze. Might be because of my new favourite nail polish remover with ingredients listing looking like this: Dimethyl Ketone, Aqua, Glycerin, Tocophery Acetate, Parfum, Cl 19140. That's some good stuff, made in Turkey!

I've read somewhere, that Zoya Faye is one of those polishes any serious nail addict must own. I agree. It's definitely unique. Next time I'll use it for layering, though...

You're a Firework!

This is the mani I wore on the last night of the year - a very special night for me and my husband. The pattern reminds me of fireworks. I have a love-hate relationship with them: I love to watch them but hate the waste they produce.

The base has three coats of China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise, which was my long time lemming. I had some application issues, but that was probably because I tried to polish my nails in the balcony in direct sunlight - again. When will I ever learn??!

I added four coats of Piggy Polish Nocture-Nail to have my nails glow in the dark, but to no avail! The polish glows all right in the bottle, but I didn't achieve the effect on my nails (that's why the four coats..). Darn!

Stamping was done with Konad black special polish and BM213. I searched for a pattern that would bring fireworks into my mind, and quite uncreatively ended up with this one. I added some colour with a dotting tool and three shimmering polishes: Zoya Dannii, Essence Colour&go Choose me! and OPI Take the Stage. Of these three Take the Stage had the perfectest formula ever! So beautiful and shimmery for the few little dots I did! I have to get a full mani with that beauty soon!

The mani seemed to lack some sparkle, so I added a coat of OPI Raibow Connection. I decided to keep it for the accent nail only - I've worn a few glitter manis lately and my quota for playing with foil is full.
