Day 3: Delicate Heart Garden

This is the third day of the Girly Girl challenge with the theme "Delicate and Elegant". Well, I have to admit that neither of those are my strong points in real life. I managed to whip up something near relevant by creating a shameless copy of the mani seen in Finnish nail blog Pastelliunelmia (Pastel Dreams). Show her some love for that!
The base here two coats of China Glaze Thistle. Went on smoothly, covered well, but didn't impress. That spells base polish to me..
Then I sponged on China Glaze Devotion and some Essence Multidimension Purple Diamond starting from the tips and started messing around. I painted on some hearts using a dotting tool with the pink from Essence Circus Circus Cotton Candy, and lined them with Sally Hansen black nail art pen.
I think I like the heart design! <3
And here are the polishes, CG Thistle on the left and Devotion on the right:
Oh, and please leave your answer to the poll on the sidebar, about your opinion on the small changes I made to the blog. I'll be glad to know what you think!!
Now let's see how others are doing with the challenge, shall we?!

Buffy Bronzed

Rather than a proper manicure this one turned out to be a study on how various bronze glitters look over dark colours.
The base here is Essence Vampire's Love 'Gold Old Buffy', two coats. (And a pre-cleanup pic..sorry!) I was about to whip up some tired jokes here about vampires, their slayers and bronzer, but let's forget that, because bronze was the colour I picked up to decorate this mani - mostly because of these bronze studs I wanted to use.
After adding the studs I decided to try on different glitters/flakies as follows:
Thumb: Essence Circus Circus My Sparkling Acrobat
Pinky: OPI Pros and Bronze
Middle finger: Nfu'Oh 39 (Looove!! <3)
Index finger: Sinful Colors All About You
You could propably guess that the Nfu'Oh is the one I liked most. You can see a crazy colour shift from green to deep red in it - even in this pic! I've never tried it on a dark black-ish colour before, and now I'm more than ready to try it on everything. I'm still sooo much into flakies..
There you have the polishes, and that's all, folks!

Day 2: Bling!

If there's a polish that spells BLING to me, it's Lacquistry's I Wear My Jewelry On My Nails. I got it recently in the mail, so this challenge had the perfect timing. It has a clear base with masses of tiny silver and holo glitter, holo bar glitter (yay!), and silver holo hex glitter in at least three different sizes.
The base for this mani here is two coats of Catrice Be Indiglow!, except the ring finger, which is three coats of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Peachy Keen.
For the ring fingers I painted half moons with Essence Crazy Good Times Confetteria, and popped on a rhinestome. For the rest I dabbed on Lacquistry IWMJONM (whew!) on the tips and down the middle of the nail.
IWMJOMN is my instant favourite glitter polish - at least until I get my hands on the rest of my Lacquistry order. It sets flat on your nails, is as easy to apply as a coarse glitter polish can be, and the roughness of the surface isn't anything a coat of SV could not handle. Seriously, I use two to three coats of SV with, for example, China Glazes Eye Candy collection glitters, which are a lot finer texture than this (and the other Lacquistry polishes I've tried out this far).
Oops, this post was more about the Lacquistry polish than my mani... Just to let you know, I'm not affiliated with Lacquistry in any way, and I paid the full price + shipping for this polish and the others. I'm just impressed.
And here are all the polishes I used - just to show you there's more going on than Lacquistry madness here..:
Now let's see how the other girls are doing with the challenge!

Day 1: Think Pink!

It's the first day of the girly-girl challenge, and we're all going to think pink!
I took the challenge literally and picked up my favourite pink polish: Sinful Colors Cream Pink. It's an awesome neon-but-not-hurting-your-eyes -pink with a hidden golden shimmer. Application is ok, if you wouldn't try it outside in direct sunlight as I did.
This is two coats. Why-oh-why did I have to pick the polish that is almost impossible to photo color accurately? But you can at least get a glimpse of the golden shimmer in this pic..
I then sponged it with Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure I Pink I Can, Revlon Bubble Gum and Sally Hansen HD LCD (Why am I always trying to type LSD here.?.?.)
To freshen up, I added some three-dot hearts (some of them looking like hearts, some of them like mickey mouse heads...) using Konad White and a dotting tool. I stamped on a fishnet pattern from BM209 with the said Konad white to create a lace effect.
Lastly, I brushed on a coat of Essence Colour&Go Space Queen for the glitter and levelled it all with Seche Vite. And here are the polishes (minus Space Queen... oops..)
Somehow I liked this mani more before stamping the fishnet pattern. Oh well, I'll get my hands on some serious glitter for the day 2... As do the other girls! Let's see what they've created:

Girly-Girl Challenge

In addition to glitter you are goiing to see some girly manis around here (a welcome change to the masculine/ladylike/serious atmosphere of this blog.. LOL)

Lindsey of Neverland Nail Blog has come up with a great nail art challenge!

I decided to take the challenge just because it sounded so fun and original, and the themes inspired me instantly. Also I love all the interactivity there can be with nail blogs and bloggers: contests, giveaways, comments, tips&tricks... you name it, and I'm in!

I'm going to post for this challenge Tuesdays and Thursdays (and maybe something else on weekends, too), so it's four weeks of girly nails to us all. Woo-hoo!

Here are all the other girly-girls taking this challenge:
Amanda of Nox Nails
Ashley of Smashley Sparkles
Sarah of See Sarah Swatch
Emily of The Lacquerologist
Jess of LuvMyLacquer
Tressa of O' Natur Nail
ChiChi of I'm just me...ChiChi
Amanda of Berry Polished
Robin, Erin, and Anna of Polished Cousins

Please let them all have some blog love!  I'm myself itching to see what they came up with on the first day...
